Ingredients
- 1 lb / 453.6 g Skinless salmon
- 1 Tbsp / 13.5 g Olive oil, for the salmon
- 1 Tbsp / 15.25 g Lemon juice, for the salmon
- 2 cloves / 6 g Fresh garlic, for the salmon
- 1.5 tsp / 3.45 g Smoked paprika, for the salmon
- 1.5 tsp / 4.65 g Garlic powder, for the salmon
- 1.5 tsp / 3.6 g Onion powder, for the salmon
- 1.5 tsp / 1.5 g Dried oregano, for the salmon
- 1.5 tsp / 9 g Fine salt, for the salmon
- 1.5 tsp / 3.45 g Black pepper, for the salmon
Method
- Cut 1 pound of skinless salmon into 1-inch cubes. The post says 1 pound of skinless salmon, cut into 1-inch cubes. A pound on this card is 453.6 g. Pat the cubes dry with a paper towel before the oil and the spices go on. The post says a dry surface helps the oil and the spices stick, and helps the edges char.
- Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. The post says 1 tablespoon of oil of choice, and that avocado oil or olive oil both work. This card uses olive oil. A tablespoon of olive oil is 13.5 g. Avocado oil is the other option and is not in the count. The lemon-juice row has no tablespoon. A cup is 244 g, so a tablespoon is 15.25 g. Add 2 cloves of fresh garlic, minced. The post marks the garlic optional and says it is highly recommended. This card keeps the 2 cloves. A clove is 3 g, so 2 are 6 g.
- Add 1.5 teaspoons each of smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. The post lists those six seasonings at 1.5 teaspoons each. The post does not say kosher salt, so this card uses table salt. A teaspoon of table salt is 6 g, so 1.5 teaspoons are 9 g. Ground black pepper is 2.3 g per teaspoon, so 1.5 teaspoons are 3.45 g. Smoked paprika uses the one paprika row. A teaspoon is 2.3 g, so 1.5 teaspoons are 3.45 g. Garlic powder is 3.1 g per teaspoon, so 1.5 teaspoons are 4.65 g. Onion powder is 2.4 g per teaspoon, so 1.5 teaspoons are 3.6 g. The post says oregano and does not say ground or leaves. The teaspoon listed first on the dried oregano row is leaves, 1 g, so 1.5 teaspoons are 1.5 g. Ground oregano is 1.8 g per teaspoon and is not used. Toss the cubes until they are coated.
- Heat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C). The post says to preheat so the basket is hot when the fish goes in. Set the cubes in one layer. The post says they should not be piled on top of each other. If the basket holds only part of the pound, cook the rest the same way, 5 minutes at 400°F. Air fry 5 minutes, until the edges look charred. The post gives that time and that cue. It does not say to flip the cubes. It says not to overcook them, because they keep cooking a bit as they cool. The center should be opaque and flake. It should not look raw. The post does not give a thermometer temperature.
- The post says to garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, and extra lemon slices on the side. Those are not weighed, so they are not in the count. The post also says the bites are usually paired with a cucumber salad or some rice. Those sides are not in this card. The post does not give a yield. One pound of bites is the bowl. This card cuts 4 plates. Leftovers keep covered in the fridge for a few days. Reheat until the salmon is hot in the center.
Nutrition
Kitchen estimate only, not lab-verified. Counted as 1 of 4 plates. The post does not give a yield. One pound of bites is the bowl, so this card cuts 4. The salmon, the oil, the lemon juice, the garlic, the paprika, the garlic powder, the onion powder, the oregano, the salt, and the pepper are in the count. The salmon is 1 pound skinless, 453.6 g, raw farmed Atlantic. Cooked salmon is not the row, because the pound is the weight before the fryer. The oil is 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 13.5 g. The post also allows avocado oil. This card uses olive oil. The lemon juice is 1 tablespoon, 15.25 g. The garlic is 2 cloves, 6 g. The post marked the garlic optional and recommended it. This card keeps it. Each seasoning is 1.5 teaspoons. The paprika is 3.45 g. Smoked paprika uses the one paprika row. The garlic powder is 4.65 g. The onion powder is 3.6 g. The oregano is 1.5 g of dried leaves, because the post did not say ground. The salt is 1.5 teaspoons of table salt, 9 g, because the post did not say kosher. The pepper is 3.45 g, ground. The parsley or cilantro and the extra lemon slices are not weighed, so they are not in the count. The cucumber salad and the rice are not in the count. Added sugars are 0. The card did not list a sweetener. The sugars in the lemon and the spices are under 1 g per plate and round to 0. The salt is the salty part. One plate is 940 mg sodium.
